SSAT raw score calculator
On the Middle and Upper Level SSAT, each right answer earns 1 point, each wrong answer loses ¼ point, and a skipped question counts 0.
What the penalty means for guessing
A wrong answer costs 0.25 point, and a skip costs nothing. So a blind guess can lower a raw score, while a guess after ruling out one or more choices is a smaller risk. The Elementary Level SSAT has no penalty, so students there should answer everything.
From raw score to scaled score
E3n, which runs the SSAT, converts each section's raw score into a scaled score. This calculator stops at the raw score and doesn't estimate the conversion. The scaled ranges are:
SSAT section scores range from 500-800 at the Upper Level, 440-710 at the Middle Level, and 300-600 at the Elementary Level, with totals of 1500-2400, 1320-2130, and 900-1800.
