About Clever Branch

Clever Branch answers the questions families ask about high school admissions tests: the SHSAT, TACHS, HSPT, SSAT and ISEE.

Official information about these tests is spread across school system pages, diocese PDFs and test-maker sites, and it changes every year. We gather it in one place, write it plainly, and link every date, fee and score to the page it came from.

Who makes it

Clever Branch is made by Simple Tree, which also makes test-prep apps for the SHSAT, SSAT and TACHS. Some pages link to those apps. Everything on this site is free, with no ads and no sign-up.

Not affiliated with the tests

We are independent. We aren't connected to NYC Public Schools, Riverside Insights, the Catholic dioceses, Scholastic Testing Service or E3n, and we don't speak for them. For decisions that matter, check the official source linked on each page.
